Dr. Moritz Lorenz heads the competition law practice of Arnecke Sibeth. He advises clients on all aspects of EU and German competition law, in particular on merger control, in connection with cartel infringements, on dominance issues, distribution systems, cooperations and licences as well as on follow-on damage claims.
Recent assignments include the review of the distribution system of a major airline, conducting an internal investigation of a suspected compliance incident, handling a multijurisdictional merger filing for a Canadian consumer goods client, advising a pharmaceutical company from the US on the compliance structures of its German subsidiary and preparing a multi-million damage claim against a cartel member.
Moritz is the author of the textbook “An Introduction to EU Competition Law” (Cambridge University Press) and many other publications. He teaches German and EU competition law at Martin Luther University in Halle, Germany. Moritz serves as co-editor of the Journal of European Competition Law & Practice.
Moritz holds a doctoral degree in law for a thesis on patent licensing under EU competition law. During his doctorate, he spent six months at Boston University Law School as a visiting scholar. He studied law at Passau University in Germany, in Russia and in China.
