Silvia studied European law at Tilburg University. After graduation she went on to work for the Netherlands Competition Authority (NMa), now the Dutch Authority for Consumers & Markets (ACM). At ACM, Silvia’s job entailed tracking down cartels and reviewing various joint ventures in the building and energy sectors, among others. She also gained plenty of experience in dispute resolution in connection with the Dutch Electricity and Gas Act. Since 2007 Silvia has worked at BANNING for the EU and Competition division. Silvia’s job entails the drafting of compliance programmes and advising companies on a range of competition law issues. In addition, Silvia represents companies in proceedings before the ACM and the civil courts.
Silvia has successfully completed the Grotius specialisation programme in European and Dutch Competition Law and a post-graduate course in Energy Law. She has also successfully completed the training CIPP/E (Certified Information Privacy Professional). Silvia regularly publishes articles in her area of law, gives courses and lectures on competition and energy, and is a regular author for Compliance Actualia, an online forum presenting all relevant news relating to legislation and case law in the field of Compliance.
